Belize Training Workshop - Jungle Play

Dates: January 28- February 02, 2026 (Closed)

The "Jungle Play Belize" workshop is a real continuing education opportunity for professionals in counseling and play therapy. It focuses on earning 15 CEUs (Continuing Education Units), including specific hours in ethics and sandtray therapy, within a tropical setting. 

Workshop Overview:

  • Focus: The workshop is designed for mental health professionals seeking to fulfill CEU requirements in a unique, immersive environment.
  • Credits: Participants can earn 15 CEUs, with content covering:
    • Texas Ethics, Culture, and Play
    • Sandtray Therapy
    • Adlerian Theory
  • Location & Experience: Held in Belize, the workshop incorporates the local culture, including music, nature-based grounding, local cuisine, and a cultural excursion to the ancient Mayan ruins of Xunantunich and the beach in Hopkins, Belize.   
  • Organizers: Provided in collaboration by the Samaritan Counseling Center and Yellow Ribbon Counseling, which specializes in play and sand therapy and offers professional development.
  •   The all-inclusive price for the "Jungle Play Belize" workshop is $3,200 per person, based on double occupancy. This estimate includes the workshop fee, lodging, ground transportation within Belize, specified meals, and included excursions for the 8 to 10 participants.
  • Cost Breakdown:  The total cost is a package price, covering:

               - Workshop Fee & 15 CEUs: Access to all training sessions.                          

               - Accommodations: Six nights of lodging in Belize.

               - Meals: Breakfast and Lunch

               - Transportation: All ground transportation within Belize related to the workshop and excursions (e.g., airport transfers and transport to the ruins/beach).

                - Excursions: The cultural excursion to the Xunantunich Mayan ruins and the visit to the beach in Hopkins, Belize.

The price does not cover airfare to and from Belize.

  • Nourishing Cuisine: Savor delicious, health-conscious meals featuring fresh, local ingredients, tailored to your dietary needs. 
  • Mind-Body Activities: Participate in a variety of sessions, including yoga, breathwork, sound healing, and reiki, to strengthen the mind-body connection.

  

We are excited to offer a Rainstick Workshop as a special addition to your retreat experience! This hands-on session will allow you to create your very own rainstick, a traditional instrument used by indigenous cultures to invoke the sound of rain.

Workshop Details:

  • Duration: 45 minutes to 1 hour
  • Materials provided: All necessary materials to create a rainstick, including wooden tubes, nails, glue, paint, and decorative elements.
  • Instructor: Our experienced instructor will guide you through every step of the process, sharing insights into the cultural significance and history of the rainstick. The workshop is designed for all skill levels, from beginners to those with previous crafting experience.
  • Location: The workshop will take place on the retreat grounds, see itinerary for date.

What You’ll Learn:

  • The cultural and spiritual significance of rainsticks in indigenous communities.
  • How to construct and personalize your rainstick using materials provided.
  • Techniques for decorating your rainstick, making it a unique piece of art.
  • How to use your rainstick to create the soothing, rain-like sound that has long been used for meditation, ceremonies, and relaxation.

Cancellation and Refund Policy

 

Thank you for booking your spot at our retreat! We understand that life can sometimes be unpredictable, and we want to offer you a clear and fair cancellation policy. Please read the following terms carefully:

1. Cancellation by You (The Guest):

  • More than 30 days before the retreat start date:
    If you need to cancel your booking more than 30 days before the start of the retreat, you will receive a full refund minus a $50 processing fee.
     
  • 15-30 days before the retreat start date:
    Cancellations made between 15 and 30 days before the retreat start date will receive a 50% refund of the total retreat cost.
     
  • Less than 15 days before the retreat start date:
    Cancellations made less than 15 days before the retreat start date are non-refundable. We understand that emergencies happen, and we may be able to offer you a credit toward a future retreat depending on the circumstances, but this is at the sole discretion of our team.
     

2. Cancellation by Us (The Retreat Host):

  • Retreat Cancellation Due to Low Enrollment or Other Factors:
    In the unlikely event that we must cancel the retreat due to low enrollment or unforeseen circumstances; you will be given the option to either receive a full refund or transfer your payment to a future retreat of your choice.    
  • Retreat Cancellation Due to Force Majeure (e.g., Natural Disasters, Pandemics, Government Restrictions):
    If the retreat is canceled due to a force majeure event, we will offer you the option to transfer your payment to a future retreat or issue a credit for the full amount paid.
  •  However, we are not responsible for any other expenses incurred, such as flights, hotels, etc.
     

3. Transfer Policy:

  • If you are unable to attend but wish to send someone in your place, you may transfer your booking to another person up to 7 days before the start of the retreat. Please notify us of the change in writing, and we will be happy to assist you in the transfer process.
     

4. Travel Insurance:

We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance to cover any unexpected cancellations or interruptions, especially if you are traveling from out of town. Travel insurance may provide compensation for unforeseen circumstances such as illness, emergencies, flight cancellations or loss of belongings.


5. No Show Policy:

If you fail to attend the retreat without prior notice, arrive late or depart, you will forfeit the entire amount paid for your booking.
