Amirah Saldivar Smith, MA, LPC-S, LCDC

Amirah created this retreat after experiencing firsthand
how traditional trainings fail to create real change.

Amirah is a Belize-born psychotherapist and owner of the Samaritan Counseling Center with over 20 years of experience helping children, families, and adults strengthen relationships and heal from trauma. She incorporates play therapy and expressive arts techniques in her work with children and families. Amirah currently receives play therapy supervision from Christina Watts-Figueroa, MA, LMFT-S, LPC-S.

Christina Watts-Figueroa, MA, LMFT-S, LPC-S, RPT-S

Christina Watts-Figueroa is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Supervisor (LMFT-S), Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor (LPC-S), and Registered Play Therapist Supervisor (RPT-S). She has extensive experience working with children, families, and clinicians using play therapy and trauma-informed approaches to support healing and strengthen relationships. Christina is passionate about mentoring therapists and helping them confidently integrate play therapy and experiential techniques into their clinical work. Through supervision, consultation, and training, she supports clinicians in deepening their therapeutic presence, strengthening clinical skills, and creating safe, developmentally responsive spaces where children and families can heal and grow.

Maria Dudley, MS, LPC-S, RPT

Maria Dudley is a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor (LPC-S) and Registered Play Therapist (RPT) with extensive experience supporting children, adolescents, and families. She specializes in play therapy and trauma-informed approaches that help children safely express emotions, process difficult experiences, and strengthen relationships with caregivers. Maria is passionate about helping clinicians grow in their confidence and skill when working with children through play-based interventions. In addition to her clinical work, she provides supervision and consultation for therapists pursuing advanced training in play therapy. Maria is dedicated to creating supportive learning environments where therapists can deepen their understanding of child development, strengthen therapeutic presence, and integrate play therapy techniques that foster healing, resilience, and connection within families.

Is airfare included?

No. Participants arrange their own travel to Belize.

Can I transfer my spot?

Yes, bookings may be transferred up to 7 days before the retreat.

Is travel insurance recommended?

Yes, bookings may be transferred up to 7 days before the retreat.

What if I need to cancel?

Cancellations made more than 30 days before the retreat receive a full refund minus a $250 processing fee.

Cancellations made 15–30 days before the retreat receive a 50% refund.

Cancellations made less than 15 days before the retreat are non-refundable.

Cancellation and Refund Policy

Thank you for booking your spot at our retreat! We understand that life can sometimes be unpredictable, and we want to offer you a clear and fair cancellation policy. Please read the following terms carefully:

1. Cancellation by You (The Guest):

More than 30 days before the retreat start date:
If you need to cancel your booking more than 30 days before the start of the retreat, you will receive a full refund minus a $250 administrative fee.
15-30 days before the retreat start date:
Cancellations made between 15 and 30 days before the retreat start date will receive a 50% refund of the total retreat cost.
Less than 15 days before the retreat start date:
Cancellations made less than 15 days before the retreat start date are non-refundable. We understand that emergencies happen, and we may be able to offer you a credit toward a future retreat depending on the circumstances, but this is at the sole discretion of our team.

2. Cancellation by Us (The Retreat Host):

Retreat Cancellation Due to Low Enrollment or Other Factors:
In the unlikely event that we must cancel the retreat due to low enrollment or unforeseen circumstances; you will be given the option to either receive a full refund or transfer your payment to a future retreat of your choice.
Retreat Cancellation Due to Force Majeure (e.g., Natural Disasters, Pandemics, Government Restrictions):
If the retreat is canceled due to a force majeure event, we will offer you the option to transfer your payment to a future retreat or issue a credit for the full amount paid.
However, we are not responsible for any other expenses incurred, such as flights, hotels, etc.

3. Transfer Policy:

If you are unable to attend but wish to send someone in your place, you may transfer your booking to another person up to 7 days before the start of the retreat. Please notify us of the change in writing, and we will be happy to assist you in the transfer process.

4. Travel Insurance:

We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance to cover any unexpected cancellations or interruptions, especially if you are traveling from out of town. Travel insurance may provide compensation for unforeseen circumstances such as illness, emergencies, flight cancellations or loss of belongings.

5. No Show Policy:

If you fail to attend the retreat without prior notice, arrive late or depart, you will forfeit the entire amount paid for your booking.
